Biography

Lisa Ashinoff is a contemporary American artist whose iconic paintings have been featured in galleries and major exhibits throughout the U.S. and Europe.  Environment in her formative years impacted her view of the interrelationship of architecture, art and the human condition.  She was especially struck by the minimalist aesthetic and mid-century modern design and cityscapes.

"When I began this body of work, I did not set out with a clear understanding of why architecture, geometry and color were combining to provide this outlet in which to express myself.  Quite simply it flowed out of me."

Now Ashinoff's interpretation of the work holds the  energies present in her childhood as the compelling force for creation.  "I grew up in a chaotic household. Intuitively I was drawn to build constructs of ordered landscapes that gave me a feeling of space. My art empowered me to bring calm inside my home."

Ashinoff continues to find the relationships between shape, color, line and perspective fascinating, inspiring her to produce paintings that are almost meditative, with a sense of nostalgia and optimism.
