Paul Kuntze’s Fresko 97 presents a richly layered celestial scene where drifting cloud formations encircle a luminous central field. Dozens of gestural figures appear suspended in motion, their bodies scattered across the surface like fragments of a larger mythic narrative. Built through gradients of sprayed acrylic and dense applications of paint, the composition achieves depth, movement, and contrast without fixed perspective. As part of Kuntze’s Modern Fresco series, this contemporary abstract painting draws directly from Baroque ceiling fresco traditions while inviting viewers to project their own interpretation of the heavens.
