Pepi Erdbories Germany, b. 1991
45 x 15 x 15 cm
Pepi Erdbories’ Unsent Sculptures series transforms written language into physical form, presenting messages that remain withheld, unresolved, or unspoken. Each work begins as a text-based surface that is folded, compressed, and shaped into sculptural compositions, where fragments of handwriting emerge and disappear across the form. The gesture of crumpling becomes central, shifting language from something linear and legible into something tactile and spatial.
Encased within clear acrylic vitrines, each sculpture is both contained and preserved, reinforcing the tension between exposure and concealment. The transparent casing allows the work to be viewed from multiple angles while maintaining a sense of distance, as though the message is present but inaccessible. Through this balance of material, structure, and presentation, the Unsent Sculptures series emphasizes Erdbories’ exploration of communication as something held, altered, and ultimately unfinished.
