Gesture Orange & Pink Circle presents two vivid bands of fluorescent orange and pink pigment drawn across a circular pale blue surface. The composition is anchored by a pair of paintbrushes fixed into gathered fabric at the right edge, while thick accumulations of paint break apart across the left side of the work. The contrast between the soft blue ground, the sculptural folds of fabric, and the intensely saturated pigment creates a dynamic balance of color, texture, and form.
The circular format introduces a distinct variation within Jean-Paul Donadini's Brosses Arrêtées series, emphasizing the relationship between gesture and support. As in many of his works, the brushstroke is preserved as both image and object, with the tools remaining embedded in the composition. The layered orange and pink passages reveal the physical movement of paint across the surface, transforming a single action into a permanent sculptural record. Through this fusion of painting, relief, and object-making, Donadini invites viewers to consider not only the finished image, but the act of its creation.
