In Cryosphere, Eric Moore uses a carved urethane surface to create a dense field of repeating forms that gradually emerges through color. Pale white and icy blue transition into increasingly saturated shades of blue, culminating in a rich, deep tone along the lower edge. The circular format emphasizes the uninterrupted pattern, while the relief of the carved surface gives the work a physical depth that changes with surrounding light. Cryosphere brings together Moore’s signature use of gradient and repetition with a distinctly sculptural approach to contemporary abstraction.
