Behind A Dream: A solo exhibition by Cevin Parker
Cevin Parker is a Berlin based painter whose practice channels emotion through color. Working in abstraction, he builds his compositions from soft gradients, suspended gestures, and fluid bands of pigment that seem to hover in place. Parker’s self taught origins lend an instinctive edge to his process, one shaped by impulse & sensitivity. Each painting emerges as a reflection of his internal world, informed by his ongoing research into color psychology and the way emotion moves through memory. His influences span the expansive fields of mid-century Color Field painting to the atmospheric studies of Gerhard Richter, yet his work retains a distinctly personal voice.
Behind A Dream, Parker’s debut presentation with Square One Gallery, brings together his Dreamland series, a body of work shaped by the subtle architecture of dreams. These paintings unfold across pastel horizons and weightless spaces, where ribbons of acrylic appear to float, twist, or dissolve. The backgrounds, created through layered spray paint, hold a quiet glow that anchors the energetic movements above them. Within this tension, Parker captures the shifting emotional terrain of the subconscious. Bright pinks and blues recall moments of clarity. Deep reds surface as traces of unrest. Soft greens and yellows breathe warmth into the imagined landscapes. Each gesture records a feeling or memory as it rises, breaks, or transforms.
The works invite viewers into the realm Parker describes as Dreamland, a place where hope and vulnerability coexist. Here, color becomes a language for unprocessed experience. The imagery is both intimate and expansive, echoing the familiar drift of dreaming. Parker’s fluid lines and suspended forms speak to movement, loss, renewal, and the courage to step toward the light after darker moments. The result is a series that feels introspective yet open, grounded in the belief that growth often emerges from the spaces where emotion is allowed to surface.
Cevin Parker has exhibited across Germany, Portugal, Austria, and the United States His works are held in private collections worldwide. His collaborations include projects with Tiffany & Co., Guerlain, McLaren, and Babor.
