Alexandra Squire USA

Alexandra Squire is an abstract painter whose work pairs vibrant color with muted tones to
create compositions that appear simple at first glance but reveal considerable depth and
complexity. Working on canvas and wood, she gradually builds each painting through
blended passages, layered pigments, and unexpected palettes. Select works are finished
with multiple coats of resin, giving their surfaces a smooth, reflective appearance while
enhancing the color, depth, and texture beneath.

Influenced by Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrian, and her grandmother, who was also a painter,
Squire became interested in abstraction through early visits to museums. Her use of
blending and layering serves as both a formal process and a metaphor for the overlapping
experiences that shape a life. Through restrained compositions and richly worked surfaces,
she creates paintings that remain open to personal interpretation. Her work has been
exhibited nationally and is held in private and corporate collections throughout the United
States.
