Overview

Eric Moore is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores the emotive possibilities of color and the interaction between color, light, and line. Drawing from geometric abstraction, minimalism, and color field painting, Moore creates compositions through saturated gradients, repeated forms, concentric bands, and subtle shifts in tone. Moving between vibrant color and restrained palettes, his paintings use repetition and gradual transitions to create depth, movement, and a direct visual experience.

Moore approaches abstraction without a prescribed narrative or external reference, instead focusing on the relationship between beauty, perception, and the viewer. Favoring the emotional impact of aesthetics over cerebral content, he creates works intended to be experienced viscerally and interpreted individually. At the center of his practice is a simple objective: to use color and form to elicit a feeling of beauty.

Biography

Eric Moore is a contemporary abstract artist whose practice centers on the emotive possibilities of color and the interaction between color, light, and line. His visual language draws from geometric abstraction, minimalism, and color field painting, using these traditions as a foundation for compositions that prioritize direct visual experience. Saturated gradients, concentric bands of color, repeated forms, and subtle tonal transitions create works in which color itself becomes the primary subject.

Moore's paintings often feature expansive gradations that transition seamlessly from one hue to another, alongside compositions constructed from sequences of color and repeated geometric elements. Across these works, he explores the multifaceted relationship between color, beauty, and the viewer. His more restrained compositions demonstrate the same attention to gradual shifts in value, allowing repetition and tonal variation to create depth and movement without relying on representational imagery.

Moore approaches abstraction with a deliberately minimalist ethos. His work does not attempt to reference a specific external subject, narrative, or symbolic meaning. Instead, he favors the emotional impact of aesthetics over cerebral content, seeking to affect the viewer viscerally rather than cognitively. By removing the need for a prescribed interpretation, Moore allows the experience of viewing to become central to the work.

This emphasis on perception and individual response gives Moore's paintings an intentionally open quality. Color, line, repetition, and abstraction provide the visual framework, while meaning is left to the viewer. His primary objective remains direct and fundamental: to create an encounter with color and form capable of eliciting a feeling of beauty.
